Google Play Store turns 10 years old

Google celebrated the 10th birthday of Google Play Store on Friday by unveiling a new logo that better reflects the magic of Google.

As a gift to its loyal users, Google offered Play Points and Play Credits for purchasing apps. The users need to activate the points rewards to get better offers on their purchases.

The notifications of the rewards came three days later after the US tech giant celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Play Store.

“Our new logo better reflects the values we adhere to and our branding,” the tech company said.

Google Regional Director for Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka Farhan S Qureshi on the occasion said Google Play’s evolution over the years from a simple play store to a roaring community was nothing short of excellent.

“Since 2012, Google Play Store has offered our users a platform to enjoy their favourite apps and games while giving developers the opportunity to grow their businesses and connect with people worldwide”, he said in a news release.

The new redesigned logo is a fresh look that matches the branding shared by many of Google’s helpful products like Search, Assistant, Photos, Gmail and more.

Google also thanked its users of the Play Store and its developers for staying connected for over 10 years.

The points by Google Play Store can be used to earn discount coupons. More of these points mean, more coupons. These points could be earned by interacting with the applications. Downloading any apps, making in-app purchases, or downloading the items inside the app will garner Play Point.

The boosters will help to earn more points for each activity and these points can be exchanged for discount coupons of higher denomination.

The Google Play Store is used by over 2.5 billion people in over 190 countries every month to discover games, apps, and digital content.
